– Robert Rauschenberg “Samarkand Stitches” – This lot features the complete suite of 7 monumental silks from the edition published in 1988 by Gemini G.E.L., Los Angeles. This is the first time that the complete set has appeared at public auction. Estimated at $80,000-120,000
– SEEN abstract paintings – offered at auction for the first time are four abstract paintings by legendary Street Art/Graffiti artist SEEN. These paintings were produced during his stay in Paris 2007-2012, when SEEN (Richard Mirando) turned his focus to a new experimental direction in abstraction, developing this body of work. Lots are estimated at $4,000-6,000. Also offered is a classic SEEN “bubble” graffiti painting in a large size – 40″ x 80″ estimated at $4,000-6,000
– Dan Concholar “Yellow Bus Series”, 1969 circa. Fresh-to-the-market from a Los Angeles collection, this is the largest and most historically important paintings by Dan Concholar to be offered at auction. Exhibited at LACMA, PS1 MoMA, and the Hammer Museum, Dan Concholar is acknowledged as one of the key African-American Los Angeles artists of the 1960’s-70’s. Estimated at $15,000-25,000
– Carlos Bastos – This untitled 1960 painting is believed to be a rare portrait of this important Brazil modernist artist. Arguably the finest Carlos Bastos painting to be offered at auction.
